Oh precious friends. I had this grand idea that I would be talking to you from a place of having fully prevented stress - or at least having managed it well - this year. But here we are. Me a lump of chronic-disease-filled exhaustion. And you... maybe a little bit better off than myself?
I'm praying it's so
So here's the deal, since I did most of week one and two's protocol (y'all - I even made and consumed the cake!!) and still fell into the trap that is "bad stress" - I'll be spending the rest of this season digging myself out of a hole. With you.
You see, an author once wrote that "you can't write from an open wound", but I believe we can. If we wait until a wound is healed to talk about it - we aren't inviting others to be really and truly "in" this adventure called life with us.
Please take this as your formal invitation into my blessed and messy life. (I wrote about what's been going on here.) A life where the only stress treatment I know that works happens on your knees.
Oh - and a big ol' P.S. The title of this post. It's "What About Me?" with intent. None of this is about you, sweet friend. Your chaos is certainly a distraction from your best possible life, but it has nothing to do with who and Whose you are. Keep on keeping on. You're valuable beyond measure. Don't quit on me. Not when you've already come so far.
To my special parenting tribe - I found a sweet prayer that hit me today, as we battle for healing in OCD. I pray it brings you greater hope, greater joy, and an enriched relationship with your child and the Lord today.
My heart is so tender before you.
At times, the challenges can feel so heavy,
the constant care can be emotionally exhausting and lonely.
Help me to see [name’s] limitations as limitless opportunities
for me to find strength and courage in you.
Help [name’s] disability to become my ability
to serve you in such a profound way.
Help me to see through your eyes
the incredible blessing
that you have created [name] to be.

Welcome to the home of the Barefoot Preacher Project. Speaking life into wild places and spaces is my jam. And encouraging you to do the same "my calling" here on earth. I am so honored that you are here!
