If we haven't met yet, I'm so wholly honored to share this wild ride! My name is Jennifer Marie Magnano, though you may know me better as The Barefoot Preacher, Mrs. Magnano, Mama (especially if we've met in the supermarket), or J.
The long and short of my story is this - I have been blessed with a unique perspective on life and motherhood.
My entire life has been spent navigating chronic disease and my entire mothering experience has been learning how to thrive with miracle kids - one early baby (who fought through critical illness and liver failure at just 11 weeks old) and a daughter doing life with sensory processing disorder and ocd. Tuning into the diverse life experiences our family has been gifted, I have found a passion for supporting like hearts.
It has become my life's work is to speak life into really real lives - yours and mine. While the storms of life have been relentless, so has been my faith. To paraphrase Pastor Erwin McManus, my faith is stronger because I have kept it in all seasons.
All of them.
For almost two decades now, I have been plugged into living life well with chronic disease. I have been diagnosed with dozens of complications from chronic fatigue syndrome, including cancer, lupus, seizures, crohn's and a rare blood clotting disorder. I've also spent every spare moment learning to be the best mother I can be, right here. For me, this meant leaving my job in veterinary administration to pursue teaching yoga and mindfulness shortly after an autoimmune crash left me unable to walk in 2011. It was just one year after our son's birth and almost-loss. Something had to change... (I can now walk just fine now, by the way!)
Since changing career paths, I have taught family yoga to masses of fabulous mothers and their children from coast to coast; built a successful online wellness business from my bed; and written oodles - especially on social media - though I may have a book or two in the works.
Now it's your turn. I would love to hear about you! Who or what are you speaking life into? What are your really big dreams? Who are you becoming, right here on your wild path? Are you madly in love with her yet? You can be. Friend, we are absolutely better together, we are worthy of well - and every good thing, and we are made for so much more than we can possibly imagine in this moment. Will you lean into this with me? Believe it. Receive it!
If you're about to send me a question like, "How are you so positive after (insert one of the dozens of challenges we've experienced here)?" click here to see our video with Sun Valley Community Church. It explains my hope, and what can be yours too. Our part starts at the 27:00 minute mark, though I recommend watching the whole thing! This sermon on "storms" might just change your life.
If you're still wondering how I keep the faith, I invite you to follow me on social media. You'll get to know me better, plus you'll get to know Jesus better too! (I think the latter is the bigger win.)
